Castelrotto - Siusi
The village of Siusi allo Sciliar is part of the municipality of Castelrotto and lies at 1004 m above sea level at the foot of the Alpe di Siusi and the Sciliar and forms the gateway to the Dolomites. As early as the 19th century, artists and high nobility were drawn to the small mountain village for a vacation. The village center, where there are several cafés, restaurants and stores, as well as a school and kindergarten, is just a few minutes' walk away. From Siusi you can reach the Alpe di Siusi, the largest and highest alpine pasture in Europe, with regular buses and a modern cable car, where hikers, climbers and mountain bikers can enjoy their sport in summer and skiers and snowboarders in winter. The Alpe di Siusi ski area is connected to the Val Gardena ski area; together they comprise 175 kilometers of slopes for every taste and 80 mountain lifts. Nestled between forests, farms and at the foot of the Sciliar massif, there is also a challenging and varied golf course with breathtaking views. Surrounded by fir trees and an impressive mountain backdrop, the Völser Weiher pond is refreshing on hot summer days. Excursions to the provincial capital or to places worth seeing such as Brixen and Klausen, which can be reached in around 30 minutes by car, are popular.
